It appears Steve Earle tickets are on sale at the Basement from this Friday (scroll down to 14th Nov). I will politely ignore the utter stupidity of the blurb, except to say "no, there is no reason to believe any such thing."

Indeed, there is every reason to believe that the entire genre of "alt. Country" would not exist without Earle's ground-breaking extension of what used to be called "Folk Rock".
